Get involved

How about getting on our register of approved external examiners or acting as a CSP representative?

External examining

If you have 5 or more years experience within UK higher education and are looking for personal development opportunities find out more on our iCSP Subject Head and Course Leaders network: www.interactivecsp.org.uk.

CSP representatives

We are looking to recruit representatives to effect arrangements for approving and advising on the development of qualifying and postqualifying physiotherapy education programmes. We are currently recruiting to three roles:
  • visitor representatives for qualifying physiotherapy programmes
  • advisory representatives for qualifying physiotherapy programmes
  • postqualifying representatives for physiotherapy programmes with HEI links
Alternatively, we are also looking for educators who would be willing to be involved as scrutineers to advise and endorse support worker programmes and physiotherapy programmes of study that do not attract academic credit: find out more on www.interactivecsp.org.uk.

We also look at regular intervals for educators to sit on a number of internal groups such as the CSP's Education Committee, QAE group and Research and Development Committee. For less formal involvement and a chance to network with colleagues from around the UK we host three other fora: Educators' Forum, Practice Educators' forum and Admission tutors' forum - see more details on their own iCSP networks www.interactivecsp.org.uk.

Advice and guidance

What's new in 2010?

A number of new and revised publications are due out this year:
  • Resources to support Charting the Future
  • Handbook for Programme Leads (on qualifying physiotherapy programmes): we have produced this handbook to assist programme leads in their administrative tasks and highlight ongoing support available to HEIs from the CSP.
  • Composite Annual Quality Review 2009: drawing on data collated from across the UK, it provides a national profile of CSP-approved programmes and shows trends in physiotherapy education over recent years.
  • Into Physiotherapy - Welcoming and Supporting Disabled Students: guidance to help academic staff, clinicians and students involved in qualifying physiotherapy programmes to understand their legal rights and responsibilities. It will help ensure that suitable candidates with disabilities can enrol, study and graduate in physiotherapy.

Advice for educators

The CSP has a dedicated Professional Advice Service (PAS). PAS offers confidential advice and guidance on matters of behaviour, conduct, individual scope, scope of the profession, duty of care, the role and responsibilities of a chartered physiotherapist and the translation of health and social care policy as it impacts on the practice and service delivery of physiotherapy. Contact our enquiry team to access PAS: phone 020 7306 6666 or email enquiries@csp.org.uk.

The CSP also has dedicated education specialists who can assist with, for example, student related matters, quality assurance and enhancement queries and interpreting education, health & social care policies as they impact on physiotherapy education at all levels (support worker, qualifying and post-qualifying education).

In addition, we provide a range of guidance and information papers, which can be found on this website, through iCSP or via our online library catalogue.

Current developments

Charting the future

Our Charting the Future project aims to help members as they prepare for the future. Project completion will see the production of three new resources and a toolkit to replace existing CSP guidance on education, practice and conduct. See more on the Charting the Future page and you can also get inolved by joining the virtual reference group: email chartingthefuture@csp.org.uk for more information.

SKIPP

Supporting Knowledge in Physiotherapy Practice is about sharing, developing, and disseminating the clinical knowledge of the profession to support clinical practice and service organisation and supporting the profession to better articulate the physiotherapy contribution to a healthy society. See more in the SKIPP section of this website.

CSP ePortfolio

Our ePortfolio tool (aka Pebblepad) supports HEIs to fulfil their requirements around Personal Development Planning and provides an interactive system to support student reflection and learning. See more on our ePortfolio access page

Programme approval & endorsement

The CSP approves and endorses a range of qualifying and post-qualifying programmes:

If you are interested in putting either your support worker or post-qualifying programmes for CSP endorsement we would just like to remind you that this opportunity is free for all institutions with CSP approved qualifying programmes.
