Library and information services

The CSP Library and Information Services (LIS) exists to support members in their evidence-based practice, to assist their professional education and continuing professional development and to contribute to their research. Non-members are welcome to use services but should be aware that charges may vary.

A team of qualified and experienced library and information professionals work in the LIS and are available to assist with solving your information problems. Find out more about the LIS:

The collection

The collection consists of material to support research, continuing professional development and evidence-based practice of CSP members. It is available for consultation within the LRC or for photocopying within the limits and rules set out in the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 amended 2003.

The strengths of the collection are:

  • a comprehensive range of journals, relating to physiotherapy and rehabilitation, as well as key medical, allied health and nursing titles. A good range of journals from international physiotherapy professional bodies, and some foreign language physiotherapy journal titles are also held
  • a collection of books, reports, government documents, and 'grey literature' (i.e. hard to find or 'unpublished' works) covering all aspects of work undertaken by the breadth of the CSP membership
  • a good range of clinical guidelines and standards from other physiotherapy professional bodies around the world
  • conference proceedings from physiotherapy meetings around the world
  • a complete collection of current CSP publications
  • an excellent collection of CSP Clinical and Occupational Interest Group books, reports, guidelines, and leaflets
  • the majority of newsletters and journals produced by CSP Clinical and Occupational Interest Groups
  • and a unique collection of theses and dissertations related to physiotherapy

  • Range of tailored Information papers on a variety of subjects relating to the information needs of members.

Service Standards

  • General enquiries received by post, e-mail fax or telephone will be answered within 5 working days , however, the majority will be answered either the same day or the next working day.
  • Free literature searches - results emailed or posted within 5 working days from receipt of the search request form
  • Full literature searches - results emailed or posted within 10 working days from receipt of the search request form
  • Photocopy requests from CSP collection - articles dispatched within 3 working days of receipt of the copyright declaration form & payment or a completed payments form. See Copying services.
  • Photocopy requests for items not held in the CSP collection – the order for these items will be placed within 3 working days from receipt of the copyright declaration form and completed payment form. We cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date for externally acquired copies.
