How Does the Group Support Continuing Professional Development / Lifelong Learning

BACPAR successfully uses icsp and the amputee rehabilitation site has a very lively discussion page, which promotes the sharing of clinical practice, education and research. This enthusiastic use of icsp ensures there is both professional and clinical peer support for therapists in a highly specialised area where they can often be sole practitioners. The executive committee uses icsp to carry out business

BACPAR also has a website which acts as its public face and is regularly updated

BACPAR have now published two sets of evidence based clinical guidelines. Educational guidelines for students are also available

A journal is published bi-annually and contains a range of articles from research to case studies

BACPAR holds two national study days per year. There is also a regional network of groups, which also run local study and educational events

BACPAR members are regularly represented at a variety of national and international events

In a joint venture with the University of Bradford, BACPAR is involved in developing and running a PGCert in Amputee Rehabilitation – part of the Masters in Rehabilitation Studies programme

BACPAR has links with many other organisations notably SPARG (Scottish Physiotherapy Research Group) and has had representation at BAPO and ISPO national/ international conferences

BACPAR also has a representative on the CSP CIG group and has links with APLLG (Associate Parliamentary Limb Loss Group)

How Does the Group Promote Research and Evaluation

BACPAR has a dedicated Research Officer who holds a register of research activities that its members are involved in

Findings from relevant research and audit are regularly published in the CIG journal

An award for the best speaker at each BACPAR national study day – the Louise White Memorial award is now given
