CSP research funding

The CSP Charitable Trust is an independent charitable organisation which supports the advancement of education and research in subjects relevant to the practice of physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy Research Foundation

Through the Physiotherapy Research Foundation (PRF) the Charitable Trust provides research funding for CSP members to undertake research. The PRF has two aims:

  1. to build knowledge in the professions by funding research that informs and improves clinical practice and clinical effectiveness and,
  2. to build research capacity in the profession by providing novice researchers with opportunities to gain funding to enhance their research skills and experience.

Full applications are assessed by the CSP Charitable Trust Scientific Panel and by independent external referees.

Decisions about which applications are to be funded are made by the Scientific Panel at its meeting in November.

PRF awards 2008

The funding allocation to the PRF for 2008 is £170,000 for research grants on any topic relevant to physiotherapy.

Please note that applications for the PRF grant awards are via a 2-tier process and the closing date for outline applications has now passed - as of noon, Friday 28th March.

If you submitted an outline proposal you will be notified of the outcome by 13th June 2008. If your application is shortlisted a 'full' application form will be forwarded to you for completion, to be submitted by 1st September 2008.
