Working internationally
The CSP has an active international role:
- it provides support and advice to members who choose to work outside the UK and
- it also provides information and a mentorship scheme for non-UK trained physiotherapists who wish to work in the UK. This aspect of the Society's work has become increasingly important in view of the drive to recruit more physiotherapists from abroad to work in the National Health Service.
The CSP is also affiliated or linked to a number of organisations with an interest in international and European employment, human rights and campaigning issues: see the international page in the Workplace issues section for more information.
In line with the Core Standards of Practice, the Society is keen to help members develop cultural competence whether they work abroad or within an area of diversity within the UK. As a founder member of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT), the Society is particularly involved with the European Region of WCPT (ER-WCPT) and its Twinning Programme. A partnership agreement exists between the CSP and UNIFY - the Professional body for Physiotherapists from the Czech Republic.
