CSP organisational affiliations

The society is affiliated with many other domestic and international organisations that include Amnesty International, Stonewall and the TUC.

  • Amnesty International is the foremost campaigning organisation in the field of human rights. The CSP has a seat on Amnesty UK's Trade Union Network Committee, which exists to promote the engagement of trade unions in its work.
  • Baby Milk Action campaigns to stop the misleading advertising of breast milk substitutes, particularly in the third world, and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding. The CSP is a supporter of Baby Milk Action.
  • The Cuba Solidarity campaign campaigns in the UK for the Cuban people’s right to self-determination and sovereignty. The CSP has supported the campaign since 2001.
  • The Child Poverty Action Group is the leading national charity working to end poverty among children, young people and families in the UK. All the main UK political parties signed up to ending child poverty by 2020 in the Child Poverty Act.
  • The European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (ER-WCPT) is an organisation of professional associations of physiotherapists from 36 EEA countries. The society is actively engaged in a number of ER-WCPT working groups.
  • Graybrook Insurance Brokers Limited are the insurance broker who arrange the insurance cover for eligible UK physiotherapists. As such they works closely with the society's Professional Advice Service and other teams to provide optimum insurance cover.
  • The Greece Solidarity Campaign (GSC) is an independent campaign established to show solidarity with the people resisting austerity in Greece. It is supported by the TUC, to which the CSP is affiliated.
  • The Healthcare Information for All (HIFA) network has as its vision a world where every person will have access to the healthcare information they need to protect their own health and the health of others. The CSP joined HIFA in 2008.
  • Justice for Columbia campaigns for human rights, workers' rights and the search for peace with social justice in Colombia. JFC, to which the CSP is affiliated, was created in response to the appalling human rights crisis in Colombia and particularly the abuses committed against trade unionists.
  • Liberty campaigns for civil liberties and human rights in the UK. Founded in 1934, it is a cross-party, membership organisation with no political party affiliations.
  • The National Pensioners Convention (NPC), Britain's biggest pensioner organisation, promotes the welfare and interests of all pensioners, as a way of securing dignity, respect and financial security in retirement. The CSP is a regular supporter of the NPC.
  • The The Neurological Alliance is the collective voice for some 80 organisations, including the CSP, working together to make life better for millions of people in England with a neurological condition.
  • Stonewall was formed to put the equality case for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people into the political mainstream. The CSP donates to Stonewall and uses their resources to support its LGBT network.
  • The Trades Union Congress (TUC) is the voice of Britain at work, with 58 affiliated unions including the CSP. The TUC campaigns for a fair deal at work and for social justice at home and abroad.
    • The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is the all-Ireland equivalent of the TUC, covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic. The CSP is affiliated to the Northern Ireland section.
    • The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) is the voice of trade unions in Scotland. The STUC is independent from the TUC, although the two work closely together.
    • The Wales TUC acts as the voice of trade unions in Wales.
  • The World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) was founded in 1951 – the CSP is a founder member – and is the sole global organisation for physical therapy. WCPT encourages high standards of physical therapy research, education and practice, and supports the international exchange of information.
  • The Trade Union Disability Alliance (TUDA) is a campaigning organisation of disabled trade union members. The CSP is a member of TUDA and has used their publications to produce briefings on employment rights for members.
  • Unite Against Facism is a national campaign with the aim of alerting British society to the rising threat of the extreme right. The CSP supports UAF and our affiliation sends a strong message that the society will not tolerate the sentiments of the extreme right.
  • War on Want campaigns for human rights and fights poverty in developing countries in partnership and solidarity with people affected by globalisation. The CSP is affiliated to War On Want.
